A State of Trance, Ep #79
Tuesday Aug 25, 2020
Tuesday Aug 25, 2020
Are you paying attention to your life? Are you zoning out during habituated activities to the point that you don't even remember doing them right after you finished doing it? It can be brushing your teeth, taking a shower, getting dressed, cooking food, talking to family or friends, or...like me today, trancing out while driving my car.
The brain seeks to habituate many daily activities so it doesn't have to expend that much energy to complete an activity it finds repetitive. This is great when we don't have to think about tying our shoes, washing dishes, walking the dog, and the other hundreds, if not thousands, of activities we can start and finish on auto-pilot.
The issue with operating on cruise control during our days and throughout doing these kinds of habitual tasks is that we miss the nuances of life, the hidden gems that are the real beauty of our existence. I am not and I am - being all meta-physical on you right now.
There is beauty in the mundane. When we trance out during these repetitious behaviors, life is passing us by, and sometimes, once in a while, not all that often - we almost do something really stupid. Well, maybe I did just that, and there's the foreshadowing and cliffhanger to make sure you hit that play button and discover how you can step out of your state of trance.

How you defeat yourself before you even start?
Monday Aug 17, 2020
Monday Aug 17, 2020
Limiting decisions and limiting beliefs - they go together like peas and carrots. If you have ever said, "this is just how I have always done it," then that was a decision you made a long, long, time ago. If that decision is getting in the way of you reaching and achieving your best self - then it is about time you get on ridding yourself of this or these decisions and beliefs that are holding you back.
Let's get into this because no doubt you have felt countless times that you are ready to barrel ahead in your journey, to make the most awesome changes for yourself in you sobriety and addiction recovery - but then when push comes to shove, you have felt this anchor around your body, holding you back.
It's not a physical anchor, it's a mental anchor - and you can release it as soon as you are ready to pull that (or these) limiting decision(s) and belief(s) from the subconscious into your conscious. Let's shine a light on it together, illuminate the territory, and get to making a better, more freeing decision today. A new belief is just a change away.

Understanding your emotions in sobriety & recovery, Ep 77
Thursday Aug 13, 2020
Thursday Aug 13, 2020
Emotions. Whether you think they are a great part of being a human or you think they are a nuisance - we are human and they are a fact of life. When we were using we spent a lot of time numbing ourselves. Now we are awake and the emotions can come fast and furiously.
Let's dive into the six negative emotions as taught to me through my NLP training - Fear, Anger, Guilt, Hurt, Shame, and Sadness.
If you would like to listen to the episodes that I referenced during the episode they are as follows: 5, 10, 15, 31, 37, 38, 51, 54,56, 57, 63, 69. I am sure there are others that also reference emotions in them, these are just the ones that sprung out to me.

The consequences of impulsivity, Ep 76
Wednesday Aug 05, 2020
Wednesday Aug 05, 2020
Flying off the handle, grabbing the booze, pipe, straw, needle, sugary item, or turning toward gambling, sex, shopping, etc is what we used to do - that's how we used to handle our emotional upheavals. That's the way we used to numb ourselves - not so comfortably when looked upon through the eyes of the chaotic and abysmal aftermath that behavior left in its wake.
So let's get into impulse control and discuss why knowing your motivation around impulsivity is so important, learn what impulse control really means, and how you can begin to take your power back in 7 easily habituated steps.
The human brain, the unconscious mind, loves habits. Like, 83% of our life revolves around habits - so we can use that to our favor and create a positive habit around controlling our impulsiveness. In turn, that will create a positive feedback loop that will give our brains that dopamine hit it seeks like we all used to seek our vice of choice.
Basically our brains are addicted to dopamine. Don't keep the dope(amine) from your brain. Do keep the dope away from yourself and out of your brain.

What do you really want? Ep 75
Tuesday Jul 28, 2020
Tuesday Jul 28, 2020
In this week's episode, we uncover the differences between needs, wants, and desires, the key drivers behind all three, and how you can begin to discover how you're are motivating yourself.
Something I find peculiar is how fearful many people in sobriety and recovery seem to be around the idea of saying they want more than to just be sober out of their life.
You know that once you get sober the world is going to expect more from you than just that. The main problem is there's often a disconnect between those who say, "one day at a time," and those that say, "I will never use again." We also know that there an entire journey ahead for us and we can only imagine it so much. At some point, we have to take action to create our best life.
This is only the start of this conversation as we go into this thought process and ask ourselves, "Great, I am sober, now what?

Your self talk is creating everything in your life, Ep 74
Monday Jul 20, 2020
Monday Jul 20, 2020
In this week's episode, we discuss your inner monologue and self-talk.
I know from experience that self-talk can have devastating effects on my mindset and my behavior. We have discussed how thoughts cause feelings, drive actions and create results.
So let's get a hold of those negative self-thoughts and realize that they will come, we are human - and just like your trauma is something you GET to heal, your self-talk is under your control.
This isn't an opportunity to beat the hell out of yourself. It's your chance to make a choice to Recognize the self-talk is happening, Evaluate why you are saying this to yourself, and Correct for a better thought process.
Choice - everything is a choice. It is your choice to believe what you say to yourself. It is in the repetition that the inner monologue becomes ingrained into your brain and becomes your default mindset which will lead to default behaviors.
Let's break that habituated default life today and start ourselves down the path toward our best self - Together.

A scarcity mindset is detrimental to your life, Ep 73
Thursday Jul 16, 2020
Thursday Jul 16, 2020
In this week's episode we discuss how a scarcity mindset, and how it effects so many of your choices, behaviors, and feelings, is detrimental to your sobriety and recovery, your finances, your relationships, your overall well-being - and in my opinion, your life overall.
Scarcity versus abundance has been referenced on this show before and today it gets it's time in the spotlight because Corona, the protests, the politics, the way we relate to one another in our society - so much of the vitriol, the despising strangers draws a direct line to a scarcity mindset.
There is plenty of room on this planet for all of us to succeed. Let's start acting, feeling, and thinking that way.

Is it all in your head?
Tuesday Jul 07, 2020
Tuesday Jul 07, 2020
Ep #71 - In this week's episode we discuss my trip through virtual reality and a game that blew my mind and damn near gave me a heart attack.
It stirred this idea in my head that just because my eyes see it, and thus my mind believes it, does not make any of it reality.
Where in your life are you creating a reality that does not really exist? Are you fully in your power, knowing you control the cause in your life? Are you giving up your power, and being in effect, by blaming others, or your environment, or anything other than yourself?

27 feet to happiness: Your stomach’s role in your mood
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Ep #70 - In this week's episode we discuss the gut, the belly, the enteric nervous system (for you science-y inclined folk out there,) and how that controls 95% of your serotonin levels - which is the determiner in your mood, anxiety, stress, sex drive, and so much more.
I know! I thought all of that was in the brain - yup, science is cool.
I also talk about socializing during the pandemic and social distancing in regards to being around friends, family - love ones. If safety allows it, I highly encourage you get out of the house, get some sun, have some fun, and love those you love. If we've learned anything over these last four months it's that it can all go away overnight.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.
