The Addictive Pod, Ep #83
Tuesday Sep 22, 2020
Tuesday Sep 22, 2020
Addictions are based in suffering, this we know, and this we have in common. Adrian brings lively guests onto his show so they can share their stories in a way that is both entertaining and heart-warming.
Based in Toronto, Adrian has his own sobriety and recovery story he doesn't often get the opportunity to share on his podcast because he focuses on his guests - so I brought him onto mine so he can share with you what he has gone through and so you can go check out his show for yourself.
Go check out his show here...

Bee Sober & The Sober Experiment w/ Alex and Lisa, Ep #82
Tuesday Sep 15, 2020
Tuesday Sep 15, 2020
The Sober Experiment is welcomed to the show as I take my first foray across the pond to check out how they get their sober on in England.
Alex and Lisa introduce us to Bee Sober, a well-being company making a difference by working with individuals and organizations to educate them about mental health. They work diligently to inspire their community by transforming people's mindset around health and wellbeing and alcohol's role in their life.
There is symbiotic energy that is next level between these two, cultivated through being best friends since high school and drinking together for almost 30 years before "experimenting" with sober curiosity. By about five minutes in, you'll notice that our energy together takes on a "next-level" vibe as they share their take on the sobriety to addiction recovery journey.
We dive into mindset strategies, to cultural dependencies on intoxication, to...well let's just say there isn't much we don't cover. You're gonna want to add their show to your subscribed list after you meet them.
Check out their website and Instagram account with the links below. These two really are bringing something special to our community and I know you will enjoy your introduction to them as much as I enjoyed meeting them myself.

Astrology and how it influences you w/ Danie C Muniz, Ep #81
Tuesday Sep 08, 2020
Tuesday Sep 08, 2020
I love introducing you to things that are a part of my addiction recovery program and journey. I have always been fascinated by Astrology. It just seems so otherworldly. What little I know just draws me into wanting to know more.
I have heard it said that Astronomy is the study of the stars and Astrology is the study of how the stars, and specifically our solar system, influence us. After this time with Danie, you are surely going to know more about how the moon affects you just as much as your sun sign. Did you know that's the name of your sign from the month you were born?
Some of y'all might think this is WooWoo or nonsense. To each their own. I just like to remind myself that just because I don't know about something doesn't make it not real. Like the Germanic language. It exists whether I understand it or not. Danie can easily slide you right into a conversation about Astrology and show you exactly how the moon, sun, the signs, and the planets have an effect on us in the most amazing ways - and you'll see the evidence when you compare how you are feeling to your natal chart. What's a natal chart? Oh, she'll tell you about that too!
Here are some awesome links so you can learn more about Danie and Astrology!
Danie set up a special opportunity for you to learn your natal chart just for being a listener of the show: Learn your Sun, Moon, and Ascending
Danie's official website is definitely a great resource: The Peace Teacher Website

Grateful vs Thankful - it's about the direction of our appreciation, Ep #80
Monday Aug 31, 2020
Monday Aug 31, 2020
Gratitude lists. A staple of the addiction recovery journey. Are you getting deep enough in your gratitude journaling? Are you just listing off what you are grateful for like it's a grocery list? Are you really listing things you are thankful for? Should you be doing a thankful list too? Can I ask any more questions before you hit play and find out the answers to these questions with my usual wit and humor?
Being grateful and/or being thankful could just be a semantics debate unraveling before our very eyes - but I attest that there is a measurable difference and it should be discussed. I mean, clearly I have something a say on the subject, or I wouldn't have done 40 minutes on it.
Let's dive into the deep together and in the end, you'll know exactly what the difference is, well, maybe, but you'll definitely know how to feel deep into your gratitude journal entry today.
Check out my Instagram bio link for the link to the Sober Sessions weekly coaching registration form. Can't wait to see you there!

A State of Trance, Ep #79
Tuesday Aug 25, 2020
Tuesday Aug 25, 2020
Are you paying attention to your life? Are you zoning out during habituated activities to the point that you don't even remember doing them right after you finished doing it? It can be brushing your teeth, taking a shower, getting dressed, cooking food, talking to family or friends, or...like me today, trancing out while driving my car.
The brain seeks to habituate many daily activities so it doesn't have to expend that much energy to complete an activity it finds repetitive. This is great when we don't have to think about tying our shoes, washing dishes, walking the dog, and the other hundreds, if not thousands, of activities we can start and finish on auto-pilot.
The issue with operating on cruise control during our days and throughout doing these kinds of habitual tasks is that we miss the nuances of life, the hidden gems that are the real beauty of our existence. I am not and I am - being all meta-physical on you right now.
There is beauty in the mundane. When we trance out during these repetitious behaviors, life is passing us by, and sometimes, once in a while, not all that often - we almost do something really stupid. Well, maybe I did just that, and there's the foreshadowing and cliffhanger to make sure you hit that play button and discover how you can step out of your state of trance.

How you defeat yourself before you even start?
Monday Aug 17, 2020
Monday Aug 17, 2020
Limiting decisions and limiting beliefs - they go together like peas and carrots. If you have ever said, "this is just how I have always done it," then that was a decision you made a long, long, time ago. If that decision is getting in the way of you reaching and achieving your best self - then it is about time you get on ridding yourself of this or these decisions and beliefs that are holding you back.
Let's get into this because no doubt you have felt countless times that you are ready to barrel ahead in your journey, to make the most awesome changes for yourself in you sobriety and addiction recovery - but then when push comes to shove, you have felt this anchor around your body, holding you back.
It's not a physical anchor, it's a mental anchor - and you can release it as soon as you are ready to pull that (or these) limiting decision(s) and belief(s) from the subconscious into your conscious. Let's shine a light on it together, illuminate the territory, and get to making a better, more freeing decision today. A new belief is just a change away.

Understanding your emotions in sobriety & recovery, Ep 77
Thursday Aug 13, 2020
Thursday Aug 13, 2020
Emotions. Whether you think they are a great part of being a human or you think they are a nuisance - we are human and they are a fact of life. When we were using we spent a lot of time numbing ourselves. Now we are awake and the emotions can come fast and furiously.
Let's dive into the six negative emotions as taught to me through my NLP training - Fear, Anger, Guilt, Hurt, Shame, and Sadness.
If you would like to listen to the episodes that I referenced during the episode they are as follows: 5, 10, 15, 31, 37, 38, 51, 54,56, 57, 63, 69. I am sure there are others that also reference emotions in them, these are just the ones that sprung out to me.

The consequences of impulsivity, Ep 76
Wednesday Aug 05, 2020
Wednesday Aug 05, 2020
Flying off the handle, grabbing the booze, pipe, straw, needle, sugary item, or turning toward gambling, sex, shopping, etc is what we used to do - that's how we used to handle our emotional upheavals. That's the way we used to numb ourselves - not so comfortably when looked upon through the eyes of the chaotic and abysmal aftermath that behavior left in its wake.
So let's get into impulse control and discuss why knowing your motivation around impulsivity is so important, learn what impulse control really means, and how you can begin to take your power back in 7 easily habituated steps.
The human brain, the unconscious mind, loves habits. Like, 83% of our life revolves around habits - so we can use that to our favor and create a positive habit around controlling our impulsiveness. In turn, that will create a positive feedback loop that will give our brains that dopamine hit it seeks like we all used to seek our vice of choice.
Basically our brains are addicted to dopamine. Don't keep the dope(amine) from your brain. Do keep the dope away from yourself and out of your brain.
