Your self-worth is created internally
Wednesday Mar 24, 2021
Wednesday Mar 24, 2021
Ep 109 - Self esteem comes from external validation, whether it be from what you see in the mirror, the things you have accumulated, or from another person telling you how they feel about something you have done or accomplished for yourself or them.
Self-worth is valuing yourself through yourself. When you realize you have value and that you matter, to yourself above all others, then you are in control of your mind, your results, and your self-worth.
Are you seeking external validation when internal validation is what will actually lift you up into the empowered state we all seek in sobriety and addiction recovery?
You have worth. You matter. What do you value in yourself? What matters to you? Are you feeding that part of yourself each and everyday. Put the oxygen mask on yourself or you won't be able to help others.
You matter. You have value. I can externally remind you of this but I can not help you internalize it and believe it. That comes from your own self-work on yourself. You create and build your self-worth - I can instigate but you have to do the work yourself.
It is possible because you have already started doing it - now let's do it with focused intention of attention.

Adult Ego vs Kid Ego
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021
Ep 108 - In this episode we are going to discuss how the Adult Ego interacts with the Kid Ego. Some might call the Kid Ego the id because the id is where the impulsivity of a human comes from and when you think of a kid do you also think of an impulsive human? Probably, yes.
Ego develops from the id and ensures that the impulses of the id can be expressed in a manner acceptable in the real world. Great, so now you are reminded of the psychological definition of ego. The ego functions in the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious mind. So the ego is all up in your head.
I want to frame the Adult Ego as the part of you that knows you have responsibilities to tend to in order to become your highest, empowered self. The Kid Ego wants fun now, now, now - and as people in sobriety and addiction recovery we know all too well the dangers of seeking fun, fun, fun right now, now, now over being "responsible" and getting our stuff done.
The Kid Ego can be acknowledged and will be paid the attention it has earned, by sitting quietly and waiting its turn, after we get done what we said to ourselves we will get done.
I will admit, I go off the rails a couple time, but I know you are patient and partly enjoy my "soapbox sermons" and "de-railing diatribes" so you are in for a treat today my friends!

The meanings we make about our life as an addict
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Ep 107 - Humans are meaning making machines so it is only natural that we would seek to make meaning out of why we chose the path of addiction over alternate paths that were also in front of us - whether we saw them or not, they were there.
In this episode we will discuss...
1. How we make meaning out of everything to give it a meaning, structure, and an order to the chaos that is the human experience.
2. Respecting other's model of the world (point of view)
3. Your map is not the territory. The words you use to describe a person, place, thing, or event is not what everyone else is or will experience.
We're gonna go down the rabbit hole. You are after all on episode 107, so by now I think you have happily taken the red pill. Let's go inside the matrix and make meaning out of everything we have gone through in our journey to get to this place where are in today.
This is gonna be a freaking blast!

Small steps become huge goals accomplished
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Ep 106 - Life is a series of goals set and goals accomplished or, unfortunately, goals not achieved. Let's discuss the fortitude you have inside of you right now that when harnessed will lead you to the wise minded sense of self and the empowerment that comes with it.
The smallest next step will add up to thousands and thousands of steps and then you look back and it's like, "how did I get her," and, "thank you internal compass for guiding me to this new life."
My online course, Wise Mind Empowerment, is live and available to you. Hit me up on IG and let's talk about how to get you in and especially how this can guide you to the life you have always wanted.

Is it a problem or Solution Opportunity
Tuesday Feb 16, 2021
Tuesday Feb 16, 2021
Ep 105 - When did you decide something was a problem? Are your feelings around the issue swirling you into a deeper, and deeper chasm of undesirable inner-self talk? Are you so deep into the problem that seeing a solution would be like cutting through concrete with a butter knife?
Focusing on the problem is a precarious precipice to find yourself teetering upon. There is a light ahead, it is the light of personal choice and responsibility. After 105 episodes you are very familiar with the notion that, "your words don't describe your reality, they create it."
This episode will go deeper into that so you can firmly plant yourself in the creator role in your own life. There are not seats for the victim mindset on this train toward our best and highest self. You are on this journey with me - so let's make sure were on the same page. We are creators and moving forward that is the position we will uphold with determination, discipline, and resiliency. It's great to have you here.

Creator or Victim - your mindset determines everything
Monday Feb 08, 2021
Monday Feb 08, 2021
Ep 104 - Creator, Coach, and Challenger. Victim, Hero, and Bully. These are the two dynamics at play while you are journeying through your life. These two models, and which one you choose to be in, will determine so much of your life. Up till now, you may have not even known you were living in these models. You will after our time together today - and moving forward you will choose to be the Creator of your life, to be the Coach in other people's lives, and to Challenge others in an empathetic, compassionate way so as to spur on their personal growth and development.
If you want to read more about this then search, "The Disempowerment Dynamic," or, "The Drama Triangle," and then search its opposite, "The Empowerment Dynamic." The internet groups these together in search so finding more information is as easy as googling any of the above. Start with this episode and decide then if you want to go deeper. It won't be necessary, but then again, what is necessary anyway? LOL.

Sunshine - My first Sobriety-Supporter
Tuesday Feb 02, 2021
Tuesday Feb 02, 2021
Ep 103 - A man whom I consider a best and dear friend passed away and in his honor, for the support he genuinely presented to me when I was using and when I stepped into sobriety - he gets the whole show. It's a small token paid toward a man who saw something in me when I didn't even think I was worthy of the oxygen I was breathing.
I will never forget you Sunshine. You lived life to the fullest. You walked the walked of Addiction Recovery. In 2047, when I hit 30 years, I promise you I will be able to look back, just as you were able to look back on your 30 years - knowing I left it all on the field. I lived life to the fullest. I smiled every chance I got. I experienced the joys of sobriety and recovery and I refused to let the emotional ebbs and flows of life derail my recovery.
I love you man. Like a brother. Forever and always.
The Earth is a darker place and the Heavens substantially brighter because they have our Sunshine.

Don't over complicate it
Thursday Jan 21, 2021
Thursday Jan 21, 2021
Ep 101 - False emotions appearing real. That's one of my favorite acronyms for FEAR and it is often at the heart of our procrastination, buffering, and down right quitting. When you over complicate something, when you are consistently getting ready to get ready to start, when you are attempting to plan out 117 steps in advance in hopes you will cover any possible issue that might arise - this is you over complicating something.
Let's get back to basics. Let's start with the next smallest step. Let's build moment. Everything you desire in your sobriety, addiction recovery, and life is on the other side of your mindset.

4 sober years, 100 episodes, and heaps of gratitude
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
The journey continues, it's just a new day in my life, and yet the significance of each passing year is not lost on me, nor do I anticipate that it ever will be.
Four years sober, January 13th, 2021. And the 100th episode of this show!! In the same week!! This was totally not planned out a year ago. About 8 weeks out, when I realized this could all happen together, I began the "Back to Basics" series to move us forward on our journey while keeping a heartfelt admiration for where we have journeyed from.
I go over some of my greatest hits in this episode:
It's the journey NOT the destination that brings us the greatest evolution
The Power of Yet
The importance of the words and language patterns we use
Beating ourselves up and getting down on ourselves is counter-productive
Response vs Reaction
We choose how to respond or react to the world
Our choice is our power
And So Many More.
Above and Beyond I just want to thank everyone who listens to this show, those in my inner circle, second circle, and beyond. Just the gratitude I have for JR, Melissa, Thomas, Thom, Dad, Brother, Debbie, Anad, Melissa, Les, Armin - I am sure there are others due a loving mention in here and the last and definitely first on this list from my heart, my strength even though she may not believe it is my sister Leslie, aka Boo Boo. I am not sure what path I would have taken in the Fall of 2016, when I broke my leg, had you not taken the huge leap of faith and stepped into sobriety first. You are truly an inspiration to me.
