Stigmas: language, thoughts, and behaviors
Tuesday May 31, 2022
Tuesday May 31, 2022
Ep #165 - Breaking the stigma of addiction. I have heard people use that phrase so often it has almost lost its meaning and strength to me. So, today we are going to dive into what stigmas are and how they are showing up in our society.
It is not just addiction where these stigmas live. Stigmas are circling around us every, single day, and you very well might be guilty of a few of them. Our minds have programming that runs our whole lives. These stigmatizing thoughts, feeling, and action are as ingrained into us as the breathing behavior of our body.
Once you are aware of the stigmas you place upon other people by way of your thinking, feelings, and actions you can shift yourself to being a momentum burst in the healing of stigmatizations of those we are unfamiliar. Rejecting, avoiding, and fearing is the old you. It is time to evolve.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.

Forgiveness & Expectations
Friday May 06, 2022
Friday May 06, 2022
Ep #162 - Forgiving yourself for an idea you had about your life and then not fulfilling that expectation is an important part of your sobriety and recovery journey. I have experienced the feeling of looking back on my life and beating myself up because I didn't achieve the hopes and dreams I had for myself when I was in high school. Some of you may have gotten into addiction before that even, maybe even middle school or younger, and from there your life went completely off the rails.
Life is what life is. What happens to us, whether because of your own decisions or actions, or because of others seeking to fulfill their needs at your expense, but that was then and this is now. You are older, wiser maybe, but certainly much more capable of knowing better and then choosing wisely from that seat of awareness.
Whatever you expected about or from your life then, that is then, this is now, and now is the time to choose to do better.
Sit in the fire of uncertainty and then choose to behave in a way that breaks you from the cycle of poor decisions. I choose to not have to ask myself for forgiveness in the future by keeping my word to myself and working my butt off to sit in the seat of uncomfortability in order to move through the undesirable feelings and emotions.
When I do this, I come out the other side of the emotional surge having accomplished an outcome that resolves what was upsetting me to begin with and creates within me the confidence to know I am capable of so much more than I was back when addiction ruled my life.

The Six Human Needs
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Ep #161 - What motivated you to seek relief in addiction? What is powering you forward in your sobriety and recovery?
What was once your medicine became your poison and now it is time to reverse engineer what you did then and transform it into something beneficial now.
We all had a childhood. Traumas and sufferings happened to us and we internalized those the best we knew how based on the resources we had physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as tinier, then we are today, humans.
Your trauma is not your fault and healing it is your responsibility. Knowing at a core level, as a deep unconscious inner-driver, what motivates you now, what motivated you then, and how you can use it as an offensive power source now...well, this will only change everything.
Your six human needs are your core motivators in your behaviors and actions. As you began to replicate the behavior in order to achieve a similar result, your patterns emerged, and from there your patterns turned into habits. Good or bad, which is mostly subjective perspective, you continued on this behavior path until you were or are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
We are going back into the vault, episode number three, and diving back into the deep end to re-familiarize ourselves with how these core human needs are at the center of your actions and behaviors.
You will bring into your awareness how they led you into addiction and how you can now utilize them to lead you into the awesome that is your sobriety and recovery journey.
After today, well, nothing will ever be the same...if you take this material and actually apply it into your life. Knowledge is not power. It is the application of knowledge where the power resides and it is time for you to take it by the fist and charge forward with your conscious mind's approval that your life is infinitely better when you wake up sober.

You attach meaning to words
Wednesday Apr 13, 2022
Wednesday Apr 13, 2022
Ep #160 - We have covered a lot about the meaning of words, the human experience, and our programming over the last month and to wrap up this story arch we finish by discussing how you, and your mind, attach meaning to the words you use, hear, and experience in your life.
Words are just words. They have definitions that help us all agree on what a word means so we can communicate, yeah, this just in...that's pretty close to the definition of language. Once the definition of a word is established, you inevitably attach a meaning to a word based on what you feel inside yourself when you hear the word. From there you have a way of saying the word to yourself and out loud - this can be in tone, volume, and cadence. The picture you create in your mind when you hear or use the word has a huge influence on the trigger it evokes in you.
Triggers are not all doom and gloom. Someone says, "I love you," and the meaning you have attached to the word love evokes the particular feeling you have associated with the word love. Timing of the, "I love you," matters too. Is it after they did something nice for you or after they wronged you in some way?
There are so many layers to the feelings we have associated to words because we have heard them so many times from so many people. As a child we have little comprehension of what love really means. We are taught by our parental figures what love is supposed to mean, according to them, and how they articulate their explanation can either help or hinder the child's understanding - and this is just the iceberg's tip of the depth to which I could write about the meaning of love and the levels of it's deciphering are to numerous to write here.
The key takeaway here is that words have meanings, which you know, but what you might not be as aware of is that your feeling will not be exactly like anyone else's nor will theirs be yours. It's not possible. The picture you have associated with the word "love" will change per person using it toward you as well. AND this is just or the word "LOVE!"

(Un)Programming your (Un)Trained Mind
Tuesday Apr 05, 2022
Tuesday Apr 05, 2022
Ep #159 - The un-trained mind isn't going to be the desirable navigator of your sobriety and recovery journey. Imagine monkeys just going bananas in a tree...that is your mind. 50,000 thoughts a day (the number varies according to the source but we'll ride that stat today) and studies wanna say 45,000 are recycled from yesterday. I vote that it is higher.
So, you want to change your life. You want to shift your perspective of yourself, to yourself, in your mind. Honestly, humans are only as good as our programming and since a vast majority of us were raised in emotionally un-intelligent households, surrounded by emotionally un-intelligent people, peers, friends, family members, and society as a whole - is it any wonder so many of us are seeking to heal traumas from our yesteryears as adults?
Today we dive into how your physical body and the words you use toward yourself, in your head, and then project outward are further conditioning the programming you received and how you can start the practice of un-training and re-programming yourself toward the desirable results you are focused upon in your sobriety to recovery journey.
I know...I can get heady, but y'all are 150+ episodes in...you can handle this no worries!

I am in Addiction Recovery or I am an Alcoholic
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Ep #158 - Today I experienced an emotional state and physical body shift when I introduced my self as a person in Addiction Recovery at a meeting where attendees traditionally say, "I am an Alcoholic."
We have discussed this many times on this show - Identity statements.
I am stupid, dumb, fat, ugly, mean, angry, a people pleaser, a narcissist, depressed, yada, yada, yada. Statements that start with, "I am" are linked to your identity. You are telling someone who you believe or think yourself to be or you are telling yourself who you are.
As always, I discuss this topic not to prove anyone else right or wrong - rather, We collectively seek to understand ourselves and others in a deeper and connective way.
Other people can say whatever they desire to say about themselves. I desire to open the conversation and delve deeper into the meanings of our words and how our mind attaches meaning to these sights, sounds, touching, tasting, and smelling we experience.
I have encouraged you to stand strong in your sobriety and recovery. Today I was blessed with the opportunity to walk the walk I have so often talked and talked.
Your voice in Your sobriety and recovery journey matters, first and foremost to yourself. Say whatever you desire to say about your journey. I hold no judgement. I, myself, have my way and I am happy to discuss it, while also not forcing it on you.
I went from the passenger of my life to the driver and today I was able to take the wheel and direct myself to my greater truth. I hope this behavior can inspire you to do the same - in whatever way that manifests for you.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.

Re-programming your mind for Sobriety
Thursday Mar 24, 2022
Thursday Mar 24, 2022
Ep #157 - Your mind is a vast ocean of programming. Everything you have experienced in your life is recorded by your unconscious mind and from the moment your five senses bring something into your awareness your mind attaches meaning to it.
How is this meaning attached? Why do you attach the meanings to circumstances and events the way you do? When is now the best time to begin the journey of investigating yourself in a way that increases your mindset around yourself in regards to what you are capable of and what you can achieve?
I have long held the belief that I am capable of anything I set my mind to. I have also experienced myself walk away from something I knew without a doubt, when I started, I could complete.
Why do I, or you, walk away from something we know we want? When was this behavior programmed into us? How has years and years of programming yourself for addiction created habits in you that you now must contend with - and ultimately eliminate if you are to be successful in your sobriety, addiction recovery, and life?
Does one moment, one event, one instance of trauma determine you will become an addict? Does that traumatic experience set you down a path where addiction is the only outcome?
This is some heady stuff...and I think it is time we start to uncover it, not just for ourselves, which of course is crucial, but for the betterment of society at large. Once we uncover the layers in ourselves that led us into addiction we then are more capable of leading others out of their proverbial fire and into the serene waters of sobriety and recovery.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.

Your Impact Tree: How your behaviors and moods effect others
Thursday Mar 17, 2022
Thursday Mar 17, 2022
Ep #156 - Your influence spans well beyond just the immediate people you interact with on any given day. Your choices to wake up sober or hungover can impact the lives of people 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. circles beyond you. This Impact Tree won't necessarily be a motivator to use or not use - if that were the case then we'd all have stopped after someone cried for our health and safety as addicts.
What this episode discusses is how you can take the internal thought of how your addiction effects people and how you can externalize that by making a sort of mind-map out of your impact tree.
Below I am putting the notes I made up for the show so you can see possible impact scenarios that I wrote out. The key to creating your own Impact Tree is to remember you are not seeking the PROBABILITY that an impact will occur - rather it is the POSSIBILITY that the impact event can occur from your initial event of waking up sober or hungover/drunk.
Covid example:
initial event: covid
first order: people get sick
second order: places shut down
third order: things dont get made
fourth order: shelves empty
fifth order: people panic
sixth order: run on stores - 4th order repeats
LOOP established
YOU
initial event: sober
1: wake up sober
2: in a good/decent/better mood than waking up hungover
3: nicer to people
4: everyone starts day off in a better place
5: go to work and are nicer
6: those you touch/effect have pleasant experiences
7: they go off and pay it forward
8: your impact tree grow exponentially
9: go home in good/decent/better mood than spending the whole day hungover
10: good dinner/meal/time together
11: the loop is established
YOU
initial event: drunk
1: wake up hungover
2: not nice to people
3: they are mean to you
4a: you are meaner back
4b: they leave the house and are in bad mood
5a: huge arguments ensue
5b: mean to co-workers
6a: both in bad mood
6b: co-workers in bad mood
7: everyone has bad day
8: arguments ensue
9: go home pissed off
10: drink and or argue
11: THE LOOP is established
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.
