How to coach yourself through overwhelm and exhaustion
Thursday May 18, 2023
Thursday May 18, 2023
Ep #212 - In this insightful episode, we grapple with the profound influence of our own self-judgment on our journey to recovery.
We start by focusing on consciously choosing empowering thoughts about ourselves and our lives. We discuss the importance of awareness and how to refrain from entertaining self-deprecating thoughts.
Next, we delve into positive self-talk, learning to let go of negative chatter. We evaluate our directions in life, understanding whether we're moving towards our ideal self or away from our undesired self. The conversation also covers guilt versus acceptance and the ability to provide empowering explanations over blaming circumstances or others.
The third part of our discussion helps you determine the positive self-beliefs you can align with, followed by an exploration of the elements you can control: your strength, mind, body, spirit, and emotions.
We then discuss the necessity of inviting fear to foster courage, emphasizing that experiencing fear is normal, but it shouldn't hinder your actions.
Lastly, we caution against going to extremes, reminding you that self-criticism isn't productive. Instead, we encourage embracing your amazing qualities and maintaining the momentum in your recovery journey. We end by highlighting the process of aligning current experiences with future aspirations through positive reframing and conscious shifting of language patterns.

Forgiveness: Why and How to take that Journey
Tuesday May 09, 2023
Tuesday May 09, 2023
Ep #211 - You have decided to forgive, so it just happens, right? HAHA & LOL!! Forgiveness is a journey. Not of a 1000 miles because there is not a preconceived set number of steps, or days, or acts of kindness that can "make" forgiveness happen. It's a mutual connection that fosters understanding, empathy, and love and it takes the time it takes.
Forgiveness is a transformative process that promotes emotional well-being, improves physical health, enhances relationships, fosters personal growth, and promotes social harmony. It is important to acknowledge and process emotions such as fear, anger, and sadness in the forgiveness process.
We talk about the NLP process called perceptual positions and how it can help someone process fear, anger, and sadness and promote empathy and understanding in the forgiveness process. We also discuss the concept of moral courage and the importance of taking responsibility for one's own emotions and reactions in the forgiveness process.
The components of forgiveness include acknowledging the hurt, letting go of negative emotions, cultivating empathy and understanding, taking responsibility for one's own emotions and reactions, and making a conscious choice to forgive. These components are all important in achieving forgiveness.
Strategies for achieving forgiveness include seeking support, engaging in self-care activities, considering the benefits of forgiveness, practicing empathy and compassion, and taking time. It is important to have open and honest communication, empathy and understanding, and a willingness to let go of negative emotions in the forgiveness process.
Overall, forgiveness is a complex and challenging process that requires empathy, compassion, and moral courage. Through the forgiveness process, we can find peace, healing, and understanding in the face of difficult and traumatic experiences.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.

Ep #210 - If someone in your life is waiting for the other shoe to drop, for you to go back to who you were, or waiting for you to fail - then this episode is for them.
Everyday we are blessed to be alive and experiencing life through the lens of sobriety and recovery. What you do today is a better indicator of who you are than your past is. Who you were yesterday is not who you are today because today you can choose differently. That is the beautiful thing about life - each day is packed with choices to be made.
You are not who you were, you are who you choose to be today. Let's start living in the present, learning from the past, and creating in the now who we want to be tomorrow.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.

Ep #207—You have the power within you to reframe, reshape, and shift the perspective of your past self. I know you know that; you listen to this show after all. Yet, as humans, the ANTs and less-than-positive self-talk can stop us before we even get started.
In this week's episode, we welcome back NLP Master Trainer, Aubrie Pohl, to discuss three of our most powerful "Laws of Success," all framed around how NLP helped us overcome our addictions, limiting beliefs, and traumas.
Firstly, we delve into the idea that "you are in charge of your mind, and therefore your results." We discuss how NLP techniques can help individuals take control of their thought patterns and beliefs, allowing them to create the mindset necessary to achieve their goals. I embrace this when a lack of personal responsibility has me blaming, complaining, or making excuses.
Next, we examine our second law of success: "The meaning of communication is the response you get." We explore how NLP techniques can help individuals understand and interpret communication more effectively, leading to more straightforward and more productive interactions with others. This is super helpful for those of us re-establishing relationships in our sobriety and recovery journey.
Finally, we explore the presupposition that: "everyone is doing the best they can with the resources they have available at the time." We discuss how NLP techniques can help individuals develop empathy and understanding towards others, allowing them to navigate challenging situations and relationships more effectively. This one hits home when I look back at the 22 years of addiction and start talking smack to myself for not stepping into sobriety in my 20s or 30s.
Throughout the episode, we provide practical tips and examples of how NLP can be applied in everyday life to help individuals achieve greater success and fulfillment. Whether you're seeking to improve your personal relationships, advance your addiction recovery healing, or become more self-aware - this episode offers valuable insights into how NLP can help you reach your goals.
So please tune in and discover the power of NLP and our Three Laws of Success!
Just hit play, and let's dive in with open minds and hearts—you are in the right place, at the right time—right now.

Tuesday Mar 21, 2023
Ep #205 - Let's explore how Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) are the unwelcome intruders in your mind that tell us we can't when all the while we have been growing ourselves with the I can's!
In this captivating episode, we discuss the impact these pesky saboteurs have on your self-worth, relationships, and personal growth, as you navigate the challenges of addiction, sobriety, and recovery.
Taking a fresh look at yourself, I'm here to remind you that you are not defined by your previous actions. Recovery is about embracing our unique pace in life, accepting our past, and deciding today that we will create our future from the present.
I'll delve into how ANTs can fuel your addictive behaviors and undermine your sobriety, and we'll unpack common mental traps like labeling, judging, shaming, complaining blaming, and making excuses.
Fear not, I've got the ANT-idote! Through the power of positive affirmations and taking massive positive actions you can squash the ANTs in your head. With an effective technique called ABRA (Acknowledge, Breathe, Release, Align) you'll empower yourself to keep those unruly ANTs in check.
We also discuss the importance of taking charge of our thoughts and overcoming the voice that tells us we're not enough. By challenging our ANTs with positivity, we learn to grow, thrive, and make the most of our sobriety journeys.
So, join us as we navigate the fascinating world of ANTs, addiction, and recovery! Remember, you're not alone, and together, we can tackle those pesky ANTs and celebrate our victories, one positive thought at a time.

Ep #204 -
On this episode, we dive into the role of the ego and unconscious mind in addiction and recovery. We use the metaphor of cooking to explain how the ego is like a spice in the recipe of life. When used in moderation, it can add flavor and zest to our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual meals.
However, too much ego can be overpowering and ruin the dish. Similarly, the unconscious mind can be thought of as the underlying ingredients in our mental recipe. It's responsible for our deepest desires, fears, and motivations.
When it comes to addiction and recovery, imbalances in the ego and unconscious mind can play a significant role. Addiction can be seen as an attempt to fill a void or mask underlying pain or trauma, which are often rooted in the unconscious mind. Addressing these underlying issues is crucial for recovery, and this involves exploring past experiences and beliefs to gain insight into unconscious motivations and how they may be influencing current thoughts and behaviors.
Balancing the ego is also important for recovery. An unbalanced ego can lead to negative consequences such as arrogance, low self-esteem, or anxiety, which can contribute to addictive behaviors. Cultivating a healthy sense of self and recognizing our own strengths and weaknesses can help us maintain fulfilling relationships and pursue our goals with confidence. By integrating these two aspects of our psyche, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and develop the tools needed for successful addiction recovery.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.

Ep #203 - You know how you've said, "I have to ________." As if you don't have a choice in the matter. Oh, you have a choice. Do you have to go to work or do you want to keep a roof over your head, a super computer in your pocket, and a fridge with sustenance in it?
You are choosing to do what you do. You don't have to do anything. Don't go to court, don't listen to your PO, don't attend meetings. Yes, you might then end up in jail or back at the bar hammering back your life - but make no mistake, you are choosing all of this.
Having to and choosing to are energetic energies. It's all in the sentence structure. Joy or misery? It's decided in the way you say things and the motivational intentions behind what you do.
In this week's episode we dive right into the deep end on this one and I act beyond goofy, because, ya know, that's me. After we cover the three step process to unearthing your internal motivators as to why you choose to do what you do we continue or investigation of the trench and cover rewards versus punishments and how our energy behind our actions will cultivate joy or sink us into misery.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, head the call!
