Why on earth would you ever want to go backwards?

Ep 110 - I am not looking forward to this moment, to this action, but I am looking forward to the aftermath, what I will receive or become after I do this or this is done to me.
This quote from the Yellowstone TV show sparked me to bring this topic to you around my principle of 'Be Decisive.'
You have a choice, every second of your life, to do one thing or do another. Going backwards and using again IS NOT the only choice. You are empowered. You know there are better ways to heal through your suffering. You are not oblivious to this idea, nor are you able to unring the bells that you have heard during this show.
Why on earth would you ever want to go backwards? You have all the choices in front of you when you step into sobriety and journey into addiction recovery. Going backwards...we already know the choices that are waiting for us back there - AND this quote doesn't just go hand in hand with our coping mechanisms around using and abusing. This topic is for you when you are thinking of a negative behavior that you know will bring you an undesirable outcome. Perhaps it's a conversation that goes sideways when you yell, perhaps its a sitting on the couch when you know you really want to be healthy and walking is good for you. The infinite hypotheticals, that are actually our very real life examples, are too numerous to keep writing here.
Going backwards is something to be mindful of every day of your life, sobriety or not, the only time you even need to look backwards is to learn the lesson that experience taught you, take it in, and then leave it in the past where it belongs.
Your future is being written every second of your life. You are the author. Write new things. Don't be like Hollywood and keep writing the same drivel with a different title and a new star attached.
You are better than that. It's time you show yourself this is a fact.
