Ep #180 - Parts of you will probably want to connect the shame and guilt you potentially feel, on your sobriety and recovery journey, to the ethical and moralistic virtues and codes you broke during your active addiction. Doing this will guide you toward the most desirable behaviors and actions you can partake in so you can release and heal the trauma, deceit, and manipulation you put yourself and others through.
Following up on last week's episode, I dive deeper into the moral, ethics, values, beliefs, and opinions topic and bring guilt and shame into the fold. Knowing how to best label these two negative emotions will open your mind to how to heal yourself. Shame will require amends to others more so than guilt which is very much about you forgiving yourself.
The action words I discuss at the end are: who, what, when, where, and how. When you ask 'why' the answer to that question will lead you down the path of connecting your values to the behavior - or being able to figure out which values you went against when you behave the way you did then.
You are not who you were - you are you today, and today you can choose to behave differently. Reliving the past over and over again in your head is a great way to screw the negative story deeper and deeper. Let's try this instead, go back, learn the lesson, and leave the guilt and shame back there where it belongs - with the trauma.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.
