Self-control is the ultimate expression of maturity and character in life. By using self-regulation (Intention - Attention - Distractions - Attitude) in your everyday life you will become more aware of why you do the things you do.
If we are experiencing completely unruly thoughts we will be living our lives like an emotional yo-yo.
Happiness and sadness come from past based thoughts.
Anxiety and fear come from future based thoughts.
Seeing where these above feelings and emotions come at us will help you place them in this model and better understand what it is you are feeling.
There is an INTENTION that underpins every action and every behavior in life.
- what is the intention
- what is the truth about the intention - why are we really wanting to accomplish something.
Once we understand what it is we are looking to achieve, that self-awareness will allow us to know if what we are actually doing will get us there.
Then we can focus our ATTENTION on what it is we want to achieve and are intending to accomplish - then evaluate and assess our actions to see if they are serving us toward that outcome.
- to see if our Internal Representations are accurate or false
Then we evaluate or assess if there are areas in our life that are DISTRACTIONS to what it is we are working toward achieving.
- we do not want the distractions to keep us from our goals
- distractions can lead to blaming, finger-pointing
Then our focus and ATTENTION is on the DISTRACTION and we lose our sense of INTENTION
How we are moving through the other 3 will determine our ATTITUDE in this cycle.
An outcome you can have with this model is... If I can put these ideas into practice and self-regulate on my end then I can explain and teach this to others.
- this comes from a place of strength and will bring about more of it in every area of your life.
THIS IS A PERPETUAL LOOP THAT GOES ON AND ON IN LIFE ALWAYS... LITERALLY ALWAYS
